BLACK TIDE BREWING/BTB

Kesennuma in Miyagi Prefecture has a unique environment nurtured by the sea of rias and lush green mountains. A city that captivates everyone once you visit it. On March 11, 2011, everything in the Kesennuma bay area was washed away by the tsunami caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake. With the desire for disaster recovery and the slogan "Let's revitalize the town with craft beer," specialists in various fields such as town development professionals and businessmen from Kesennuma and all over Japan gathered here to start the BTB project. At the same time, an American named James dreamed of moving to Kesennuma and making craft beer and later became BTB's head brewer. Despite having trained in famous breweries all over Japan and overseas, he fell deeply in love with Kesennuma. And in the spring of 2020, in the midst of the pandemic BTB was born.

BTB's beer brewing motto is "Brewed with pride in Kesennuma" “We are proud to be able to make craft beer in Kesennuma, and the people of Kesennuma will make the best craft beer that the world can be proud of”. In addition, we value the philosophy of "Story", "Quality", always pursuing quality, "Creativity", and "Connectivity", beer that truly connects people and hearts.

In the clean brewery right by the sea, there are 5 1000L tanks and 2 2000L tanks, and 6 to 8 kinds of beer are made here every week.

Taking advantage of being a small microbrewery, they brew a variety of beer styles, including lagers, IPAs, saisons, and stouts. Craft beer made with BTB is packed in cans instead of bottles, reasons being the quality advantage of not allowing light to pass through, the ability to enjoy playful can designs, and the rationality of the cost. Even with the same recipe, the same beer can never be made twice. All of this is to meet the expectations of all BTB fans who love BTB, and it is said that there are already more than 100 types of beer.
